As a UX designer working on these HMI projects, I began by gathering functional requirements and conducting contextual enquiries to gain an understanding of the clients' tasks. I then modelled these tasks, prioritised the information hierarchy and built wireframes and interactive prototypes using realistic or simulated data. If possible, I then run rigorous usability tests in a lab or simulator to ensure clear feedback, streamlined workflows and reliable error recovery. Finally, it's handover time, with clear definitions of the specifications and user flow.
